Grass Roots Racing is dedicated to increasing the understanding, appreciation, and use of the natural environment through the medium of adventure racing.

With over 30 years combined racing experience, and over 20 years combined race directing and course design, we pride ourselves in producing events that are challenging to seasoned racers while providing newcomers with the opportunity for a great first time experience.

The Kinzua Country Tango
When: August 1, 2009
This one-day event set in the Allegheny National Forest will challenge your endurance in the various areas of; running, biking, swimming orienteering, and canoeing.
Legs of the Event
- Running- The 13.1- mile course starts at the YMCA in Warren PA and leads you along the scenic Allegheny River.
- Biking- This 20-mile ride consists of non-technical mountain biking and National Forest roads. Look out for wild turkeys and white tail deer,
- Swimming- The next leg will give you a chance to cool off during the 2.2 mile swim. Swim fins and resting will be permitted. All teams must have a safety canoe accompanying them.
- Orienteering- It’s time for a trek on foot through Cornplanter country. Well marked points will be located over a rugged 6+ mile course.
- Running- Back on foot for a short 4.5 mile run alongside the Kinzua Reservoir
- Canoeing- This paddle is 8+ miles downstream along the Allegheny River and back into Warren. Each team must supply their own canoe.
Divisions
Solo- one person completes every event! Must meet criterion to ride solo, contact Thad Turner.
Two- Person Complete- Each person competes in all events together.
Relay- Up to 6 people may compete-pairs are required for canoe and orienteering legs of the Tango.
Entry Fee
- Complete Tango- $150 before July 5th and $180 July 6th through July 31st
- Solo Tango- $125 before July 5th $145 July 6th through July 31st
- Relay Tango- $180 before July 5th and $200 July 6th through July 31st

David resumed racing last year after several years off and has joined Scott to compete in his first season of adventure racing. David has always enjoyed running, biking, and swimming and previous racing history was doing triathlons.
This 2009 season is David & Scott’s first season as teammates. Scott has been a long-time competitor in the Rootsrace.com series, racing in both male-male and coed divisions as parts of numerous 2, 3, or 4 person teams.

M.M.M. Adventure Racing
We have been racing together and separately over the past decade in many different venues. We take pride in racing smart and making good decisions. We are not always the fastest, but are a strong team. We have developed a new training regimen this season that is going to make us a stronger and faster team. We are excited to get out there and BRING IT!!
